Ayo. I have a thought

Most people that use dumb phones as a mean to reduce their screen time are just looking for attention.

What's the difference between an iphone and a Nokia 3310 as long as both of them got mobile data off and are in your pocket ?
People that use dumb phones instead of correcting their behavior forcefully handicap themselves in exchange for a praise when they get to share that they're not terminally online. They still are lmao. They consume more when no one is watching.

Why not just dumb down your current phone and stick to some usage rules ? Since it's an addiction at the end of the day it's in your hands to resist the urge and find something else to busy yourself with.

So desperate to be unique (couldn't be me) lmao

Same with social media breaks you see people taking, I knew one guy who kept having to take stupid breaks because he couldn't stop beating it to an oneitis he had and everytime he would announce it on his instagram story like people cared (the break, not his weird obssesion), I'd have to tell him to just moderate himself as in the end social media aint great but is pretty essential in the modern social landscape. Did he listen? No. Honestly I'm glad he isn't too online in general as he ain't a bad guy but would be a lolcow under the right circumstances.

If I am forced to have a phone, I want it to actually help me out. Also, most flip-phones are either too old to be useful due to 2G and 3G tower shutdowns or are shit-tier modern devices that are very overpriced. For the prices you can get some of these "dumb" phones that are essentially Android, you can get yourself a decent smartphone that is better and limit usage as you noted.

Those concerned with phone addiction can stick to destroying their phone and whatever else is necessary or just reselling it after overwriting and formatting the data. Those who are simply concerned about privacy like myself may still have reason to not go for a dumbphone for basic activities as to not look suspicious.

For example, I have burner social-media under my legal name. I do not post anything of importance, I will tweet about technology sometimes but that is about it. I use it purely to look normie and to interact with other normies I meet in real life due to most of them refusing email and due to me wanting an easier way to discuss without SMS. I don't even have much, just enough to make me look like a normie. My real posting is done on sites such as this one. I don't have perfect OPSEC, but enough to keep out everyone except the U.S. government. They aren't a concern to me due to me not doing anything against them, I am just concerned about normies pulling useful information and corporations tracking each move.

TLDR; Flip-phones are either too old to be useful in my country or so cheaply made that they aren't worth it, especially when they are nearly as much as regular Android smartphones. Also, addiction of a phone is better cured by outright getting rid of the phone. Even privacy is a poor reason to purchase a flip-phone due to a properly used smartphone being better at making you avoid sticking out.
