Aloecity released this on CD for the first time ever and been listening to it again recently as Im so hyped to get it physical (was lucky to buy it as Macroblank stuff sells out in minutes), one of the best Macroblank albums and damn the physical looks so dope

I was never a fan of those "thin sleeve" cases for CDs. Somehow they just feel cheap compared to full case. That red dye on the data side is really nice tho. I can't imagine how much time (and cost) it took to find a place that would do smth like this

Yeah, digipaks are gay, seems like only Japanese record companies do jewel cases these days, the design of the digipak and disk are so kino though and I love the extra love Aloecity puts in on their releases such as the red disk, an extra cost for them but adds so much more character.

I bought some CDs for my mom for christmas and 2/3 came in jewel cases. Also most CDs I bought on bandcamp were full case. My only idea is that digipaks are a bit cheaper and then seller / artist can splash out on stuff like red colored disc or some extra paper wrap.

With so many units I bet that even slightest change in order can greatly affect the final price. So they gotta struck that price/wow factor balance

I'm UK and still got $7 despite it literally shipping from Britain and being a lightweight CD, something definitely fishy going on with that but in the end Aloecity are the only ones producing Macroblank physicals atm so very little choice in the matter

It's more the consumers who buy it fault, they like owning stuff no one else has and thr scarsity makes it more desirable for them to buy, and tbh its a win-win on both ends: the seller has less overstock they have to find a way to sell on for profit and the buyer has something that little else have making it more valuable for him. The business tactic works love or hate it.
