1. I have mostly drank water over the past few years. I will occasionally have Dr. Pepper but I otherwise drink water alone. I never liked coffee or tea, and hated the singular sip of alcohol I have tried. I may go for no non-water drinks entirely, except non-homogenized yet pasturized milk.
2. I am attempting to cut down on procrastination. If I actually go through with things, I will get way more done and get it done way faster. Procrastination is arguably the worst thing that I do. It kills my projects more than anything else, both when considering legitimate and illegitimate reasons. And I am a full time NEET, so I truly have no excuse here.
3. I am attempting to properly sort files when downloading them, rather than just leaving them in my default download folder. I am beginning by moving all important files onto a 2TB HDD I have, using my laptop's SSD purely to boot off of. Once I build a proper laptop, I will transfer the data from the 2TB USB HDD to several desktop HDDs. I will have one drive for my stuff, one drive for my group's materials (as i own various groups under other aliases), and another drive for other random data. These 3 drives will be my archival drives. For regular usage otherwise, I will have an SSD to boot off of and an HDD to store things like Steam Games but nothing too important. I have many reasons to use separate drives for each purpose, rather than just keeping everything on one HDD of archives.
4. Go all the way with my technological freedom. Self host everything, manually compile the code for everything I run (except for newer games which will run off consoles to avoid needing to dual-boot Windows), etc. Also, I will make heavy efforts to use wires instead of wireless for every little thing, perhaps going as far as to get rid of my phone and force gaming controllers to use USB.
5. After successfully freeing myself of any technological woes, I will begin to free my family and friends, then everyone else.

Lmao. Good luck with that. I had hard time convincing my family to send me sms messages instead of trying to reach out to me via Facebook messenger. It never worked even after it caused few minor fuckups

Unfortunately, true.

I could probably get them to avoid subscriptions like Disney+ via hosting a private media server for them (for my immediate family) and self-host everything except social-media such as email, "cloud" storage, etc. Getting them off social-media entirely or at least onto fediverse is likely going to fail. Game servers can be hosted for stuff like Minecraft Java too. Doesn't seem too hard, but first, I should make sure I even know how to configure it on my own domain.

It's very unlikely that you would be able to unglue your family from disney+/netflix etc. You would need something automated that keeps the library up to date + it's easily accesible outside the home network. Preferably not with a VPN because that already might be one hassle too many for them. God forbid you're an ESL and you would need to keep up with OG english version and some translation.

It's very unlikely that you would be able to unglue your family from disney+/netflix etc. You would need something automated that keeps the library up to date + it's easily accesible outside the home network. Preferably not with a VPN because that already might be one hassle too many for them. God forbid you're an ESL and you would need to keep up with OG english version and some translation.

Ditto, my housemates also accused the Jellyfin of using up RAM when inactive on the smart tv??? Yeah, average normie is still stupid to figure it out, still a cool and fun project but make it for yourself.

Fair enough for Disney+ and Netflix, although I very rarely watch television anyways so that defeats the purpose for myself as well, unless I make a local media server filled with all of my memes which I can access on any device which is whitelisted. Even on the rare occasion I watch something, I use DVD or Bluray. Friends could probably be unglued easily, but only because they are also in a similar position to me just not to the same degree of, say, watching a movie once or twice and not rewatching it again for many years. Something like this is a bit easier as my native language is English, but still annoying if it is likely they won't even use it.

I'll also give them XMPP, but I won't note this except to the few technologically literate enough to actually use it.

Still do it, a home media server is a fun project and great for media archival and ease of access for the shows you love, just don't expect family members or normies to bother using it or understand it.

The best way to convince other people to follow you in this endeavor, is to just do it yourself. You'll find that if you try and force people to say, use the Fediverse instead of Facebook, they'll resist you quite a bit. People don't like to feel like their being sold something. Just use it yourself, tell them how much you like it if they're curious, and they might become open to it. But you won't be able to convince everyone.

Plex was worse and would crash, Jellyfin worked fine but my housemates genuinely do not know how RAM works and uninstalled it anyways as apparently it interfered with NowTV. This is why I don't do shit for no one no more.
