I was thinking about this thread today and I genuinely think /wsg/ and /gif/ will be next, especially since its harder to moderate with a million webms a day being posted and frankly the jannies being shit at their job on there, maybe /b/ too considering the fucked shit that gets posted on there.

Still find it hilarious that modern day 4chan jannies are so shit at their "job" they now need email verification to get rid of shill threads, can't compare to the old stock which had to deal with removing 100x worse on the daily without any IP blockers or captchas in place to make their job easier.

I mean 4chan has been dying for years and alts for 4chan have existed since the early 2010s, its just no one can decide on a better alternative as 4chan is so iconic and used by so many that a lot of the internet are just too comfortable using it at this point. I don't think 4chan will ever die considering its status and if anything will be used by users until they find a greener pasture themselves.

The problems are I think are
1. Fast moving boards are fun. Anywhere other than 4chan will be, relatively speaking, slow
2. Any 4chan alternative will create a ''le sekrit club'' vibe with people who think they're special for using it

Though number 2 might not be that bad as I might lead to quite a lot of gatekeeping. Which I agree with previous posts in this thread, is a good thing.

fast boards are fun until you step away for 10-15 minutes and then the thread is gone. i think the best threads are medium sized boards where the thread/general will still be alive for a few days at best but arent as slow as something like /wg/. now that board is legitimately slow for anything. (i mean its a fucking wallpaper board what much is there to talk about)

on the topic of alt board sites it really just comes down to user retention. something has to make the people stay there to build a base following. otherwise it will just be another flavor of the month site where everyone comes to post about it for a week or so, then they are never seen again.

Yeah exactly, user retention is the hardest game to play in the book as in the end these alt boards will never be 4chan, they will never have that constant supply of new users to replace the old and you really do need that group of regulars to prop the site up to keep it alive into the long-term.

Not even just that but you need to keep that old guard happy because as your board grows things will change, new features or sub forums will added, and new users will join, and not all these changes your loyal userbase will like, especially the new users. Like damn, the amount of boards that have gone down the shitter once normies and that certain group of play pretenders have found out about it I can't even count. You need to be welcoming to new stock but same time gatekeep and let certain individuals know they don't belong, to most importantly preserve the forum's culture and keep the forum being what it's known for. Administration staff and mods should actively take additional steps so bad actors don't cause a downfall neither, they have the power and can prevent it if they truly care for their communities.

that and assuming jannies dont decide to ruin a website for some weird asinine reason. ive seen too many burgeoning websites/forums die out prematurely due to horrible mod decisions. knew a site that had a janny shit flinging fest that ended with the owner of the site just closing down the site altogether.

I find it stupid people on there are even dissing gold and silver, precious metals are one of the oldest investments there are and unlike stocks and shitty crypto coins you can actually own it and hold it, and sell at any time unlike a stock or crypto where there has been cases where exchanges have refused to let people buy and sell for this and that reason. They may take awhile to increase in price but I trust their value way more than assets you only own on paper. I don't like investments that I can't personally hold that much basically though I don't mind dabbling in stocks and crypto when I see potential in one.

It still feels surreal to me that I can walk into most stores now and see anime stuff littered around and the most normie girl you know watches it. If you want the best value then just buy 1kg bars. Not sure if they have the "certified packaging". Most staches with 1kg bars just keep them loose, so I assume they don't bother with secure packaging.
