Please excuse the extended downtime the site has had over these past few days. Xenforo staff were being real NIGGERS about the whole thing.

Yes, indeed! Promises made, promises kept! As I said before, my first act as the new owner of the Mariana Bay is to remove any and all word censors that were put in place because of the draconian speech laws in the previous owner's country. As an American, I can guarantee 100% free speech on this site moving forward.

Now, the next order of business would be restoring the aesthetic of the site back to something more than just the default theme. The old theme we used still hasn't been updated to Xenforo 2.3 yet, but I am looking at other alternatives.

There have been some talks about "rebranding" the site to something new, but I'm not sure how I feel about that at the moment. What do you guys think? Vote in the poll above to let us know.

I would stay with current name and logo. My only suggestion is to get rid of "sub forum" thing. I like the idea, but in the end rarely anyone used it and bigger article sized pieces also work as a normal forum thread

As the previous owner I stand by the site needing a rebrand, not name and logo mind you (people are attached to it and would make things more confusing), but more the general themeing and what this site is about topic wise. The biggest problem with Mariana Bay is under my leadership I really did nothing new or different with it, it was a forum that was born from my butthurt of getting banned from Agora Road and had somehow stuck around due to actually acquiring a group of people who were passionate about it. If people want a y2k music forum they can go there but for this forum to stick out we really need to distance from the whole music y2k themeing and make this forum about a topic we all are very passionate about and have something to say on, hobbies wise that is not trying to make /pol/ 2.0 here.

It would be hard to do much of a rebrand without changing/updating the name or logo. Not that I feel like we need to, it's just that those two things are the only "brand" we have to speak of. So unless you're willing to alter either of those there isn't much point in rebranding in my opinion.

What you mean? Why would a logo and name change be whats required to change up this place? You said it right there where our main issue is the name and logo is our only brand and thats exactly the issue, our forum has no foundational theme or topic that defines us and we need that to move this forum onwards, we can't just be a nothing forum.

Mind you, if our themeing changes the logo would have to change if we no longer follow the music theme.

Disabled for now, Xenforo butchered the migration and we are trying to identify whats causing conflicts

If the forum goes down again I will re-enable the chat but as of right now it's gonna stay disabled :) At least it'll encourage more threads probably

Due to the site's instability as of late, all add ons have been disabled at the request of Xenforo support. Hopefully we can narrow down the problematic add on that's been causing the database errors and get it fixed once and for all. I've had to put off any major work or rebranding for the forum because of this. It's been a massive pain.
