Question isn't horseshoe theory kinda true?

when horseshoe theory is brought up in a lot of political circles, it gets mocked pretty heavily
but when you really think about it, doesn't it make a bit of sense?
i mean, both the extreme left & extreme right have very violent fantasies against their enemies
they both made up of usually young, unsuccessful, loners
they both have their favorite boogieman they like to insert everywhere & are politics obsessed
they're both really rabid & angry & love lump you in with the other side™
etc.
the only real difference between them is just their politics & some minor behavior
but other than that you have to admit there's a lot of overlap between the two

Extremism in general is formulaic. The concepts you listed like having a disenfranchised youth, with a developing hatred towards a common enemy with an echo chamber of consensus, are all the factors that are ripe for revolutionary movements. People criticize horseshoe theory often because they don't think about it in the more abstract manner that it's intended to be thought in. I think that a lot of these people who become politically obsessed have entered this self destructing pit-fall that's just really hard to get out of, and end up with the "it's them or us" mentality.

horseshoe theory is absolutely true and thats why it gets people mad , when you tell someone they're just as retarded as the person they're making fun of they get really upset and naturally makeup non-arguments to counteract the point. Its usually along the lines of "muh greater cause" which is usually an arbitrary and un-thoughtout endgoal which does still rely on the systems they plan on removing to a degree . But then again most politics is for retards who think they can make a change in the world.

I mean yeah I do get your point OP but we can't act like a nazi or commie are the same on a fundamental level as then we would be lying to yourself. However you're not wrong, the extremes are usually filled full of societal rejects and losers who want a war so everyone else can suffer and have values so fickle that a crumb of pussy can make them drop then within a night.

both the far left and the far right share a lot of the same characteristics both socially and politically, neither side would ever admit though because it'd be extremely embarrassing for them
