I think I am not "nostalgic" of boomer shooters. But i do have abit of that feeling of "future that was stolen", when it comes to fps games. I like Shadow warrior, painkiller and UT 2004 and other boomershooters.

In any case, I have good reasons to think in the future, the genre of boomer shooters will come back.

I mean it kinda has with the DOOM revival games, Postal Brain Damaged, and DUSK. Would love to see more, especially a proper Duke Nukem revival (not like what we got 12 years ago).

I think it will come back in another shape.

I mean, the boomer shooter game mechanic is outdated as hell. But there are some newer games that are increasing the speed, pace of animations, there are preconditions to bring more speed in games, much much more compared even to the older boomer shooters.

When we say that games like call of duty, csgo or battlefield are "slow" its not technically true, because older boomer shooters could have been even slower... for example UT was slower. But the boomer shooters had that "i dont know what" that made them special.

There are games today that could set the premises for newer "boomer shooters"... fortnite for example has health boosters, shield, the movement options are more than we had just 10 years ago. Fortnite is also an extremely popular game. This means an entire generation of kids is having their "first memories" imprinted with fortnite, this is not bad at all.

I think people miss just how simplistic and straightforward these shooters were. But yeah no doubt one day people will be calling Fortnite nostalgic and desiring for games like it in like 30 odd years when the Fortnite servers eventually shutdown after being knocked off the scene by the even bigger games to come. Doubt Fortnite is going anywhere anytime soon though, they are raking it in.

I was joking, I dont feel any nostalgia at all.

But I think theres a concrete possibility that boomer shooters will arise once again.

Boomer shooters has more nuance to it, retro fps sounds shit.
Except that no boomer grew up playing this game. Boomers are the people blaming these games for mass shooters, not the playerbase

nahh most of the time the average playerbase of the "boomer"shooters are 15 year olds who think the future was taken from em. You see in their communities they're filled with trannies and other social rejects. Most of these kids are autistic and i kinda feel bad for em since they have a really shitty autistic outlet , but i guess you can't choose your autistic obsession.
