What do you guys think of Jesus Christ Superstar? Kino or not

Literally the gateway to be founded and saved

I really like "This Jesus must die" (2000) and "Judas' death" (1973) in particular. The melody arrangement is so good and the way the actors sings it

kino 100%. Even though some people consider it heresy, everyone in my immediate family like it so it's become a tradition to watch it for resurrection Sunday.

My favourite song is Gethsemane especially around the 2:50 time, it gives me goosebumps, plus seeing Jesus having doubts about god's plan but still deciding to go and sacrifice himself is very powerful because it shows his human side.


Also liked the more upbeat songs along the movie.

some people actually consider it heresy? damn. I like it cause it sings about Jesus' human nature as well his mercy.

Also Judas in this is kind of misrepresented, instead of being greedy and stealing from donation box he's good at heart and sell out Jesus to "help the poor" and shit but that's only because the entire thing is saw through Judas' eyes

Personal note: Every version of Caiaphas is kino, even the obsecure japanese and german ones

I haven't seen any version other than the 1973 one. Might check them next year.

the 2012 live tour one is p good, there's also the 2000 (movie, not broadway) version which is kind of overhated
